Nokesville has a rich history. It was founded in the early 1800s by a group of German immigrants. The town grew rapidly in the 19th century, as it became a major stop on the Orange & Alexandria Railroad. Nokesville played an important role in the Civil War, as it was the site of several battles.
Today, it is a thriving community and home to a variety of businesses, schools, and churches. Nokesville is also a popular destination for outdoor recreation. The town is surrounded by rolling hills and forests, and there are several hiking and biking trails nearby.

The majority of Nokesville is located in the rural crescent. The rural crescent in Prince William County strives to retain the rural feeling and limits new construction to one home per 10 acre parcel. Keeping with the rural feel, Nokesville is home to the majority of the farms still existing in the county. You can find horse farms, dairy farms, and sod farms. In recent years some new construction has started to appear in Nokesville and with that has come a new secondary school. And of course, Nokesville is home to the BDHS Tigers!
